Now that the Open Enrollment has ended, you can enroll or change your coverage on the Marketplace that’s all If you have a life event such as getting married, having a baby, or losing health insurance,

Will my life event qualify me for a special enrollment period?

There are four basic types of life events covered:

  • Loss of health insurance: Losing eligibility for work-based insurance (either through yourself or a family member) or Medicaid, Medicare, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Household change: marriage, birth or adoption, divorce, or death
  • Change of residence: certain household moves, such as moving to a new zip code or county
  • Other eligible events (such as changes in income): changes to disqualification from Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), release from incarceration, etc.

How do I apply for 2020 coverage through the special registration period?

  • For those who fall under the special enrollment period, create an account Also log in An existing one to enroll in the 2020 plan.
  • You may be asked to provide documentation to verify your qualifying life event.
