On Wednesday, I wore running gear, went to the bathroom, and pushed my cell phone into my pocket. I was ready to get dressed.
Then I sat in bed and looked at the dog and said, “Annie, I rather don’t want to.”
I’m not very motivated now. My goal race is more than two months away and the weather in New Jersey is not ideal. And all I see before is a batch of miles on the same road that most of my adults were on. life.
These dips occur, and if you’re in a running rut, go through the miles until your goal is to bust right away, or until the weather gets better or the big race is close enough to feel. Whether it’s an arrival or not, you may be able to arrive.
Make sure you don’t get hurt
You may laugh, but I get a lot of emails and tweets from people who are having a hard time running with stinging pain, so please tell me to make running fun again (go to the doctor, go to the doctor) Is always going to the doctor). We are accustomed to this sport being a little uncomfortable. If the pain is preventing you from getting out of your door, the problem is pain, not running you haven’t done.
Make sure it’s a running issue
Because life can be a drug. Family stress, work stress, too much travel, lack of sleep, all of which can deprive you of the brilliance of running. After a long look a few weeks ago, I did this kind of self-check. It seems that it was none of them. But I realized that my weekly mileage increased, but not the amount I was eating. (For more information on the relationship between exercise and metabolism, there is a report from here. Gretchen Reynolds on new research And my guide, How to feed runners.. )
Do something different
If you want to run the same route multiple times, run another route or run that route in the opposite direction. Do you run in the morning? Try running at night (make sure it lights up correctly). Treadmills make you want to make holes in your eyes, so give props to anyone who can run for more than 20 minutes on a treadmill. If you get tired of it, press the button. Increase the slope or add a few high speed runs. Or look at something else. When I ran more often on the treadmill, I often parked myself in front of the television showing the Phillies game. It was helpful.
With your destination in mind, you’re not just running, you’re checking something from your to-do list. I rushed to the PO Box, dropped and picked up books in a small library, and left something on my mom’s pouch. I have never picked up an engraved piece of jewelry. She would have been surprised to see a woman in a full fur coat wearing running wear next to her at her jewelry counter, but she earned miles that day.
Run with friends
Hollie Sick, a friend of mine who runs the site Fueled by LOLZShe said she wasn’t motivated either, so I decided to run with her once a week. She is much faster (much) faster than me in the race, but our easy training pace is about the same. We talk about everything, and before we knew it, the run of our time was over. I introduced her to her joy of running in her little library. Running with someone else can take your heart off the work that seems pretty good to us two at the moment. If you don’t have a running friend who has your pace and schedule, check out your local running store to see if you’re running in a group. When I travel to places I don’t understand, I usually participate in group runs.I did this in RunnersWorld Tulsa On the night their group run was also a scavenger hunt. I exploded and took a memorable tour of the wonderful city.
I’ve repeatedly said that I don’t need a lot of gear to run in this space. But last week I also noticed that I was switching between the same two sets of running tights. If you match your age, you will be in the second year of high school. So I bought two new pairs. I’m not saying that you can get out of the unmotivated state, but new gear falls into the same category as “do something different.” It doesn’t have to be expensive. It could be a new hat or headband, or manicure that fits your running shoes. This is also a good time to look for deals, as running stores are starting to put away winter gear in anticipation of spring and summer runs and pushing the last summer inventory out of the door. I bought two pairs of running shorts this way for $ 15 each.
I will take them to Florida for a week starting today. I hope it will be a magical sunshine-filled trip to Walt Disney World. Of course, I will run while I am there. Planning to run these vacations is Disney World’s “joggingThe page has pictures of runners who are old enough to wear clothes like them. now sold out As a retro gear Urban Outfitters.
