published to September 22, 2014

Now that you’ve found a doctor and had your first consultation, you may be wondering what to do next. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions.

For example, if your doctor tells you to go see a specialist, call to make an appointment. Even if I see a specialist for a particular service or condition, I always go back to my primary care doctor.

Here are some tips for getting the care you need.

  • Ask your doctor’s office to notify you when your next visit or recommended health check-up will take place.
  • Put event reminders in your calendar or use the smartphone app.
  • Don’t go to your appointment because you’re too busy. Remember to put your health first.
  • If you have any questions or concerns during your visit, please call your doctor’s office. They will answer your questions and help you adjust the medications you are taking.
  • If you’re worried you won’t be able to afford your medical bills, talk to your doctor about ways to keep costs down for medicines and services.
  • Don’t be scared.when getting preventive care That way, doctors are more likely to catch illnesses and problems early and help you recover faster.
  • If you don’t want to go back or listen because of the way your doctor or office staff speaks or behaves, speak up or consider changing doctors.
