Tyrese Samuel hits the buzzer with a 3-point shot that lifts Seton Hall over Memphis


ORLANDO, Fla. — Tyrese Samuel banked a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Seton Hall beat Memphis 70-69 at the ESPN Event Invitational on Thursday night.

Left behind on an inbounds pass with 2.3 seconds remaining, Samuel faked a pass to the right to create more space to win the game, hitting high off the backboard and in. His teammates tackled him midcourt in celebration.

Samuel had 14 points and 11 rebounds with the Pirates (4-1). Dre Davis shot 4 for 9 (3 points he’s 0 for 4 from range) and 5 of 5 from the free throw line to add 13 points. Trey Jackson recorded 10 points and shot 3 of 6 from the field and 4 of 6 from the line.

Kendrick Davis had 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the Tigers (2-2). Memphis also scored his 14 points, 2 steals and 2 blocks from Malcolm Dandridge. Chandler Lawson also had eight points and eight rebounds.
