‘Shazam 2’ does poorly at the box office on Snyder Cut’s 2nd anniversary
James Gunn‘s new DCU hasn’t seen the light of day yet – and ditching the old guard is proving brutal…both at the box office and on Twitter, that’s all Zack Snyder all day long.
First, there’s “Shazam 2” – which just hit theaters this weekend and is already off to a rocky start with a $30 million domestic release – one of the worst DC movies ever made. Remember, Zachary LeviThe future ahead in Gunn’s world hangs in the balance…and one has to imagine that the bombing of his films (former DCEU part) here doesn’t bode well.
For the Gunns, it could be even more painful. Before they get to the actual new slate – it starts two years or so after ‘Superman: Legacy’. DC has yet to release ‘Aquaman 2’ and ‘The Flash’… neither It was completed before Gun appeared.
Time will tell how they work, but for now… “Shazam 2” hasn’t paid off. 2nd anniversary Or his “Justice League” flick – known as “The Snyder Cut”. And yes… they want ZS superhero content again.
There are some “snyders” trend Including people calling Warner Bros. using the bird app.To release the right To Zack’s work on Netflix…he’s working on other movies right now. The reason is…they want their man to continue the ‘Snyderverse’, along with all the former actors/heroes- Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason MomoaSuch
Of course, that probably won’t happen…but the die-hard fanbase is demanding it anyway.
Further complicating matters is Zack himself…just this week teasing an announcement courtesy of one of his big DCEU villains, Darkseid. It’s unclear what that is… but he’s set the internet on fire with speculation – so it doesn’t look like ZS is really going away either.
And Zack’s final mention – where someone was enjoying his glory days again – came from BA himself. Profile of THR this week.
In short… the DCEU has some huge big shoes left to fill, and everyone has Gunn and Peter Saffronvision is realized.
After all, starting over is a long and tedious process. There’s a lot to clean out of the garage, and not everyone wants to sell their leftovers…as WBD is currently finding out.
Definitely a huge headache.
