Sex workers in Amsterdam speak out against erotic centers
About 250 people gathered at the RAI in Amsterdam on Tuesday night, City Plans for New ‘Erotic Center’ To relieve the pressure on the red-light district. The municipality has designated three potential sites for erotic centers. Two near RAI in Amsterdam South and one at his NDSM wharf in Amsterdam North. The center will provide about 100 workplaces for various sex workers and rooms for “care and safety, catering, entertainment, culture and education,” the municipality said.

On Tuesday, Felicia Anna of sex worker interest group Red Light United told ANP she would. “Keep resisting this project with your teeth and nails.” The organization is strongly opposed to moving to erotic centers and has instead called on local governments to improve crackdowns in red-light districts. “Everybody seems to want us out. D66 district leader Bart Vink told AT5 that the gathering is premature, as many questions about the possible arrival of the erotic center have yet to be answered. Instead, they called it a “party rally.”
Van Zanten was offended by the remark. “I think it is completely out of place, because initially the idea was to do it with all parties. It is up to them that the coalition withdraws. I wouldn’t call it a party convention.”
