Government Saturday Kogi’s Yahya Bello praised the level of preparation and action of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the state’s lower house elections.

The governor made the award shortly after voting at Okene-Aksa Voting Unit 0011 in Okene Municipality of Kogi.

Mr Bello said:

“So far, the number of participants has been very high, and thanks to the improvements made by INEC, we have had enough security, which is impressive. I voted.

“We look forward to a very smooth, peaceful, credible and successful campaign today that will result in a positive voter response.

“Today’s movement is local and people should be enthusiastic and expect large numbers to come out to vote for themselves.

“At the end of this election, we expect 25 of the 70 contested candidates to show up to represent the people in the state legislature.”

Bello expressed confidence that all candidates for his party, the APC, would win at the end of the exercise.

“The APC has won 100% of the presidential and capitol elections, and we can’t expect much more,” he said.

Bello urged residents to avoid any form of crisis or violence or anything that could undermine the conduct of peaceful and successful elections in the state.
