A 27-year-old man suspected of a violent crime was shot and wounded by Amsterdam police on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 8:15 am in Waterkeringweg, West Amsterdam.
Police said the man was hit in the side. He was conscious and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. No further details have been released regarding his condition or place of residence. At least he had three ambulances and a trauma team dispatched to the area.
Shortly before the incident, police said a man was seen riding a scooter with a blocked license plate. He is suspected of kicking him and making death threats.”
In a brief statement released about the incident, police did not disclose why they used force against the man. Found a holder. He was also found in possession of “very heavy fireworks” that had been confiscated. Police said the suspect was a person “known to the police and the judicial system.”
In this case, the Rijksmuseum will investigate the use of force by the police. An independent inspector is investigating a case involving a Dutch government agency.
