Plymouth 2-0 Forest Green: promotion chasers bounce back after beating Rovers

Promotion hunters Plymouth returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 win at home to League One basement Forest Green.

Second-placed Argyle, who lost to Barnsley last week, opened the scoring with their first attack here after winning on the right corner.

Midfielder Jordan Horton’s shot was headed in by central defender James Bolton from close range in the eighth minute.

Kyle McAllister had Forrest Green’s best shot of the first half, but his shot from 18/17 yards was easily saved by Callum Burton.

Plymouth playmaker Danny Mayer tried to extend Argyle’s lead in the 30th minute, but his shot from the edge of the box was deflected to the uprights by Harvey Bunker.

The Greens extended their lead in the 47th minute after James Wilson’s sharp run and cross from the right to the back post. Norwich wingback on loan unmarked His Burr His Mumba fended off Rovers keeper Lewis His Thomas and headed home.

Striker Niall Ennis caught Callum Wright’s cross to substitute but volleyed in the 62nd minute in a goalmouth scramble, but Argyle had enough.
