Open Registration Closed: Here Are Some Options

Open enrollment in the health insurance marketplace® closed in 2014, but you may still have the option to get health insurance this year. If millions of Americans have already signed up for Marketplace coverage, we can help you learn how to use it.

Options after March 31, 2014

of NEXT OPEN REGISTRATION PERIOD Coverage that can begin as early as January 1, 2015 will begin on November 15, 2014.

Enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP will continue throughout the year. Medicaid and CHIP can be applied for through HealthCare.gov, state marketplaces, or directly through state Medicaid departments.

You may be subject to special registration periods. Even if you have a qualifying life event, you can still sign up for private insurance on the marketplace outside of the open enrollment period.

  • No longer covered by parent’s plan
  • Move to new area
  • birth or adoption
  • get married or divorce
  • lose other health insurance
  • gain status as a member of an Indian tribe
  • Acquisition of citizenship
  • leave imprisonment
