Mets analyst Keith Hernandez out of regular season with shoulder injury

The Mets legend and SNY analyst has finished his work for the season, broadcast partner Gary Cohen announced during the team’s game against the Athletics in Oakland. Hernandez missed a curb and tried to save his glasses and phone, but ended up hurting his shoulder.

“He completely tore a tendon in his shoulder and will need surgery next week,” Cohen said. “Keith is on the injured reserve list and will miss the rest of the regular season.”

According to Cohen, Hernandez will have surgery next Thursday.

Last season, Hernandez was briefly sidelined in July gardening accident — he reportedly tripped while standing on a hot tub pruning bush — which required eight stitches to his thumb.

“I don’t know what to say,” Cohen said. “He was a little shy about it. You know, last year he had a gardening accident last season, but this one is more urban.
