Kane Williamson and Henry Nichols became the first New Zealand pair to share two 300+ partnerships in the Test


New Zealand ace hitter Kane Williamson and his buddy Henry Nichols became the first pairing in the history of the Test to link two 300-plus partnerships. The Mammoth 363 was stitched on day 2 of the second round of testing.

Their first 300+ performance was against Pakistan at Hagley Oval in Christchurch in January 2021. The duo added 369 against the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah. Williamson finished with a Test-best 238, and Nichols scored 157 as New Zealand beat Pakistan by an innings and 157 runs.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing clash with Sri Lanka, the pair grounded the visiting bowlers and gave them no rest. The hosts restarted his second day with his 118-2 and took wickets after two sessions as Williamson departed for 215. The 32-year-old Williamson continued from his stunning 121 in his first Test against the island nation at Christchurch.

Heading into the second Test at Wellington, the left-hander was under pressure as he had not turned 50 since February 2022. .
