India is more likely to win 2-0″ – Wasim Jafar’s second ODI prediction against Australia


Wasim Jaffer commented on the winners of the second ODI between India and Australia held in Visakhapatnam. The former Opening Day hitter also predicts the same player’s Most Valuable Player Award winner.

India took a 1-0 lead in the three-game series with a five-wicket victory in the first ODI in Mumbai on Saturday. Men in Blue, who won his series in Test by a scoreline of 2-1, will look to seal his series in his 50th over at Visakhapatnam.

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo’s Timeout, Jaffer expected India to lead 2-0 in the series after their explosive performance in the first game. He predicts Virat Kohli will produce runs if he plays at his favorite venue.

“Given the momentum on their side, I think India will win 2-0. They are bowling very well and India have a better chance of winning 2-0. Shakapatnam is one of Virat Kohli’s favorite venues, so I’m expecting a big run from him and becoming Player of the Match.”

Cori Died cheaply in the first ODI as Mitchell Stark’s lethal first spell beat him in five overs. However, right-handed batsmen averaged 111.20 in six ODIs at the venue and scored 556 runs.

When asked if Australia would reconsider its consistently harder strategy, Jafar thinks credit must be given to the Indian bowlers. The 45-year-old lavished praise on Mohammed Shammi for consistently producing his balls wicket-taking, adding:

“Yes, I think so. But the Indian bowler deserves a lot of credit as Ravindra Jadeja took Mitchell Marsh’s crucial wicket. We also talked about Mohamed Shammi’s spell. Those wickets didn’t fall for the big shots and he dismissed them well It was the Indian team that produced these balls and the score couldn’t have been bigger.”
