How to use your new Medicaid or CHIP coverage

With millions of Americans enrolled in the Medicaid program or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), it’s important to use your new coverage.

If you have any questions, please contact your state Medicaid Also chips agency. Once on these two pages, scroll down and select your state from the bottom menu.

Here are some tips to help you get started.

  • The Member Services phone number is located on the back of your eligibility letter or registration card.
  • Please consult your doctor or pharmacist. They’ll tell you if they accept Medicaid, CHIP, or whatever health insurance you choose. We may also be able to answer any questions you may have about the service in question.
  • If you do not have a registration card and are unsure if you are covered, contact your state Medicaid or CHIP agency.
  • If you have not yet received your registration card, your eligibility letter will help you obtain treatment and fill prescriptions.
