Fraser Clarke could fight Fabio Wardley for British heavyweight title this year, promoter Ben Shalom says
Fraser Clarke could challenge Fabio Wardley for the British Heavyweight Championship later this year.
Clark was the Tokyo Olympic super heavyweight bronze medalist.
He will turn pro in 2022 and will play his sixth match next Saturday against American Rydell Booker. sky sports.
If he passes this next Test, promoter Ben Shalom could see Clarke fight Fabio Wardley for the British Championship in the coming months.
“He definitely wants to fight for the British title this year, hopefully sooner or later,” said Boxxer’s Ben Shalom. sky sports.
“I think they both want that fight. I have no doubt it will happen in the near future as long as Fabio still holds the British title.”
Wardley stopped Nathan Gorman in November to win the belt for Lonsdale.
“Fabio Wardley is the current British champion,” said Shalom. “I think that’s the fight Fraser wanted.
“Fraser believes he’s world-class. We believe he can be world-class, so he’ll want to trade British players this year.
“It’s exciting because he has some decent domestic fights this year against David Adele, Fabio Wardley and Kash Ali, and he has some to get through.

But Clark will have to perform against Booker at Manchester Arena next weekend.
“I think Rydell is coming to upset him. He’s tricky, he’s experienced, he knows how to deal with someone. Fraser will have to be careful. Given his pedigree, Fraser. There’s a lot of pressure on us,” Shalom said.
“He’s going to have to get through a fight like this, but hopefully it’s a fight he can really learn from when he’s fighting at the world level.Rydell Booker is a tough operator. I think this is his toughest test yet.

“He wants to be considered the top heavyweight and on that scene… he needs to make a statement on March 25th.”
