Derby County 0-2 Fleetwood: Rams suffer rare home defeat at Pride Park

Play-off hopes Derby lost their first League One match at home since early October, when they lost 2-0 to Fleetwood.

In the 11th minute, the visitors surprised Derby when Jaden Stockley’s 25-yard volley went off the crossbar, hit Joe Wildsmith and bounced back.

Fleetwood created derby problems every time they moved forward, scoring again in the 30th minute when Carlos Mendes Gómez beat two defenders and shot at the near post.

The Rams tried to turn the tide of the match by making two changes before halftime and two more at the start of the second.

However, Fleetwood came close to a third in the 67th minute with a good save by Wildsmith to hold off Jack Marriott at the near post.

Louis Dobbin had the shot and Joe Lynch deftly saved David McGoldrick’s shot in the 80th minute.

Lynch failed to drive Jason Knight, but Derby remained close to scoring while Fleetwood moved up to 12th.
