An angry woman hurled racist slurs at an Uber driver on the streets of D.C. and verbally attacked her while she was madly caught on camera.
“I’m hiring you. I’m your boss. The woman, nicknamed ‘DC Karen’ by social media users, was yelling at an Uber driver standing on the streets of Cathedral Heights, according to the footage. I called.
“You’re part of the s–t,” she says, calling him the N word six times in a row.
Karen also called Uber drivers “slave,” “schizophrenic,” and “illiterate.”
The Uber driver responded by calling her a coward and a bitch.
The details aren’t entirely clear, but the two appeared to be arguing over a cell phone charger. When he suggests calling the police, she says, “If you could speak English, my phone would die!”
At one point in the tirade, an Uber driver warned an unidentified woman that it would be published online because of his video.
“Hey Karen, you’re going to be talked about on the internet as a racist woman!” an Uber driver tells a woman at one point.
“Yeah, I am now, because I’ve done nothing wrong,” she countered sheepishly.
“I’m white and you aren’t. That’s why you don’t like me. Because I read and write,” Karen said, then walked off screaming the N word six more times in a row.
After the video went viral, Uber announced that “DC Karen” had been banned from using the app.
An Uber spokesperson told The Daily Beast, “The behavior seen in the video is disgusting and has no place on the Uber platform or anywhere in society.
