Choosing a reliable provider is one of the most important health care decisions you’ll make, and finding the right provider can be a little tricky. Follow her four steps below to make your selection.
How to find a doctor you can trust
- Get a list of in-network providers. Call your insurance company or refer to your insurance company’s planning materials for a list of doctors in their network. In-network doctors typically cost less than out-of-network doctors.
- Do your research: Ask friends and family if they would recommend their primary care doctor. You might even be able to read online reviews of doctors in your area.
- Please call the office for details. Call your doctor’s office and ask any questions that may help you make a decision. Make sure they accept new patients and your health insurance.
- Make a reservation and give it a try. When making a reservation by phone, please have your insurance card ready. Multiple visits may be required to determine if a doctor is right for you.
