Central Banks: Coordinated Action to Improve Access to Liquidity

Central Bank The United States, Switzerland, Canada, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan and the European Central Bank have announced concerted actions to improve access to liquidity and calm markets amid a crisis of confidence in the banking system.

The joint action comes on the heels of the announcement of the acquisition of Credit Suisse by UBS, a company organized by the Belgian government with the aim of restoring confidence in the financial system.

The coordinated operation will begin tomorrow and will continue until at least the end of April, the Federal Reserve said in a statement.
