At least 4 dead, 10 injured in explosion near Kabul mosque International News: AFPBB News


KABUL: At least four people were killed and 10 injured in an explosion near a mosque in the Afghan capital Kabul on Friday, with hospitals confirming the death toll.
A column of black smoke rose into the sky and gunshots rang out minutes after the explosion in the city’s diplomatic district.
Kabul’s Italian Emergency Hospital said it had suffered 14 casualties, with four dead on arrival.
Kabul police chief spokesman Khalid Zadran said the blast targeted worshipers leaving the mosque after prayers on Friday.
A spokesman for Interior Minister Abdul Nafi Thakor said the blast occurred on the main road near the mosque. The cause was said to be under investigation. Takor said a police team was at the scene and an investigation was ongoing.
Mosques have long been targets of attacks.
