‘Arguably the best whiteball bowler in the world at the moment’ – Dinesh Karthik praises Mitchell Stark

India’s veteran keeper hitter Dinesh Karthik praised Australia’s left-handed pacer Mitchell Stark for his excellent bowling performance at the second ODI in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (19 March). The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer also sympathized with batsmen playing against players like Stark.

In an interview with Cricbuzz, Karthik said any hitter in the world would struggle to contain a quality left-arm seamer like the 33-year-old Starc, today’s premier whiteball bowler. The 37-year-old also lamented the lack of quality left-arm seamers in the Indian lineup.

“He is without a doubt the best white ball bowler in the world at the moment. Need to cut some slack for a quality left-handed hitter.

“The skill behind Shaheen Afridi, Trent Boult and Mitchell Stark is another boss. If the bowler had the skill he would have played in India! Why is he bowling at the net It’s not an easy skill, and you’re playing international cricket, and it’s a different ball game.”

Pfeiffer was the ninth time Stark had done so in a single day, behind Wakar Younis and Mutti Muralitharan. It was also his second five-wicket haul in the format against India.
