‘A unique player’ – Luis Enrique suggests Spain’s young man could be breakthrough star of 2022 FIFA World Cup

After beating Costa Rica in Group E, Enrique praised the team’s youngest player.A former Barcelona coach who called him a unique player pushed him to become the best player in the world. NDTV Sports):

“Hey [Gavi] A unique player and a very different player…he’s 18 but has the personality of an experienced player.

“We are delighted to have him in our team and he will be one of the stars of world football. I hope he plays aggressively.”

However, Enrique added that he still doesn’t think Gabi’s game is perfect, adding that “sometimes it just needs a little poise and composure.”

Alongside Gabi, Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio, Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata each scored in Spain’s 2022 FIFA World Cup opener, while Ferran Torres scored twice.

An overjoyed Gavi said after receiving the MVP award.

“I’m happy to win and I’m happy to be MVP. We played a great game.

“Pedri and I are very good friends off the pitch. On the pitch there is not much to say. He is a great player and it is very easy to play with him.”
