Gov. Sayi Makinde was declared the winner of the Oyo gubernatorial election held on Saturday, March 18.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Makinde was re-elected with a total of 256,685 votes.
Terra Adeniran, state resident electoral commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced on Sunday that Makinde won 31 of the 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Makinde defeated Teslim Foralin of the All Progressive Congress (APC) with 256,685 votes and Adebayo Adelab of the Accord Party (AP) with 38,757 votes.
Provincial INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Adebayo Simeon said, “PDP Makinde Orsei Abiodun, who fulfilled the requirements of the law, was hereby declared the winner and elected by the Returning Officer. Adebayo Simeon, 2023 3 This day of the 19th of the month.
Makinde has been Governor of Oyo State since May 29, 2019.
