Understand your options when comparing Marketplace plans
- metal category, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc. shows how you and your plan share the cost. They have nothing to do with the quality of care. No matter which metal category you choose, you can save a lot on your monthly premiums depending on your income. However, if you qualify for , you should opt for Silver to save even more.
- there is also different plan types, HMO, PPO, POS, EPO, etc. Some types can use almost any doctor or medical facility. Others limit your options or charge extra for going outside the network.
- Consider your entire medical bill, not just the bill you pay your insurance company each month (the “premium”).Other amounts, sometimes called “Out-of-pocket” costs, has a significant impact on total spending. Before you decide, think about how much care you typically use, or are likely to use in 2022.
