Lamarck, Texas (KTRK)-According to police, a six-year-old boy who drowned when he gathered at Airbnb in Lamarck on July 4th, died.

The tragedy occurred around 6:50 pm on the 800 blocks of Borney.

When the first responders arrived at the scene, they noticed the boy was unconscious and tried to treat him. He was rushed to Texas City’s Mainland Medical Center, where police said he had died.

Police said a large party was taking place that night at Airbnb, where the pool is located.

The Galveston County Medical Inspector’s Office confirmed that the boy who died was Joseph Boyd, who turned six in June.

Police are trying to determine what caused the boy to drown and who was watching over the pool when the void sank below the surface of the water.

It’s unclear how long the boy was in the water before everyone noticed, Lieutenant. Forest Gandhi said.

While the Lamarck police criminal investigation department is investigating the issue, it does not mean that the police believe the crime has occurred. According to Gandhi, he will investigate whenever a child dies earlier than planned.

Police have confirmed that the house was a famous party spot in the city and a hotspot for noise and mayhem complaints for many years.

Police are also trying to determine if the city ordinances that regulate mass rallies are being followed, given the size of the rally and the fact that the house was rented out for the party.

Gandhi has confirmed that such events usually require a permit, but vacation events do not.

In addition to permits, such events may be subject to rules requiring law enforcement or first responders to be in place.

The city’s spokesman, Joshua Prichett, confirmed that the city does not have a short-term rental ordinance. Drowning occurs after Airbnb, one of the largest online short-term rental companies, has added a policy banning party rentals.

Drowning is not the first to involve a young child in the house during a party.

In 2014, a 4-year-old girl drowned while attending a birthday party at home.

According to court records, the girl’s family sued the homeowner for the negligence of drowning.

The jury found that the homeowner was or was not negligent.

According to the county’s property records, the owner of the house is the same person who owned the property at the time of the 2014 drowning.
